Michelle Obama is a woman that has marked history. More famously known as the First Lady in Barack Obama’s term, she has also earned a name for herself during these last years.
Michelle Obama is a powerful symbol of what the United States represents. She reminds us that it was possible for an African American woman to accomplish her dream. This includes being the First Lady, writing her memoir, and inspiring thousands of women worldwide. With determination and hard work, Michelle developed a successful career path. In March 2015, Michelle Obama started an initiative named “Let Girls Learn” to help the 62 million girls worldwide who do not have access to quality education. The organization promotes programs that reduce gender-based violence against children and educate young women on their rights.
As well, she spoke at the “Power of an Educated Girl” panel. Here, she encouraged girls to “Compete with the boys. Beat the boys.” Additionally, Michelle Obama gave young girls advice, telling them no boy was worth giving up their education.
Coming from very humble beginnings, Michelle managed to play an excellent role as First Lady, but also leave a legacy. This woman is one that will always be remembered as a feminist icon.
