There are many amazing women in this world who are considered great feminists. Madonna, Meghan Marke, Michelle Obama and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are only a few of many inspiring women.
Someone who inspires me a lot is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. AOC as she is called, is a a member of the House of Representatives in the USA as part of the Democratic Party. She is not only known for being an influential politician but also for her fight for feminism.
Female equality can only be achieved if more women are in power position. AOC is one of those women. As a politician she is often confronted with her mainly male opponents. Just recently she was called a "fucking bitch" by the Republican Ted Yoho because he did not agree with one of her opinions. Male politicians do not have to deal with those kind of problems, if they disagree with each other. With men it is simply a disagreement. With women disagreements or simply powerful women are often followed by dehumanization through their male opponents. AOC points this outs: "Dehumanizing language is not new, and what we are seeing is that incidents like these are happening in a pattern. This is a pattern of an attitude towards women and dehumanization of others.”, she said in a very impressive speech concerning the incident.
Times have changed. Women are starting to achieve the equality they deserve and AOC is a woman who stands for this 100%. She is in a position of power and within this position fights for Feminism and encourages more women to follow her and to do the same.
