Questioning what we have been told

Actualizado: 17 oct 2020

Sometimes you find a book, a film, a video, a picture,... That is going to remain with you for the rest of your life. Once you have read it, you'll never behold life as you did. Perhaps, if you had read it a month ago, it would not have made the same impact. But it was the exact moment, the right book and the right person.

Well, this is what happened to me and the "book" We should all be feminists

I have written it between quotation marks because although it is printed and it shows the format of a book, it is an adaptation of the writter Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's TEDx talk on December 2012.

You might have noticed the author's name does not sound European. It is actually Nigerian. And she is one of the most

What most amazed me about her speech, is how much I identified myself in her words. I think most of women would.

Have you ever felt out of place in this world built for men? Have you ever thought you were not enough for an activity because of your gender? Have you ever been told not to wear certain clothes for your "safety"?

Stereotypes shape our mindset. And as we grow, we should hesitate and question ourselves why women are supposed to do certain stuff just because of their gender, why we are half of the population but 72% of the high commands in enterpresises are still males. I could go on and on in this endless list of discrimation towards females.

But for that, there is this eye-opening essay that you should definitely take a look at if you want to know more about this reality that concerns us all.

I would be more than interested in hearing your suggestions about a work that has inspired you. Hope you liked today's posts.
